Parallel Parking: Step-by-Step

Pull Up Beside the Front Car
Stop beside the car in front of the space, about 1 meter (3 feet) apart. -
Check All Around
Shoulder check both sides and behind. -
Reverse Straight Back
Reverse until your rear bumper lines up with the other car’s rear bumper. -
Turn the Wheel Fully Toward the Curb
Reverse slowly while steering fully toward the curb. -
Straighten the Wheels
When your car is at about a 45-degree angle, straighten the wheel. -
Turn Away From the Curb
Continue reversing and turn the wheel fully away from the curb to bring the front in. -
Center and Stop
Stop within 30 cm (12 inches) of the curb.
